An Update

Lila has more expressions and makes new discoveries all the time. She has recently discovered that when her hand gets close to her mouth, she can suck on it and she goes to town. She holds her head steady and seams stronger. We help her with this by giving her lots of tummy time, or instead of real tummy time, we give her airplane tummy time that forces her to hold her head up.

She is sleeping much better - she seams to have figured out the difference between night and day and has one night stretch that lasts 4 to 6 hours! Hallelujah!!!

We have been jogging and walking together everyday. The walk helps her take a nice long afternoon nap and I get my exercise. I look pretty funny because I haven't broken out the jogging stroller and the regular stroller just doesn't look made for what we do, but I honestly have to say it rolls pretty smooth. I hook daisy to my waist so she gets to go wherever we go too!

We have gone to church and made it through the whole service for the last two weeks. I figure God wants me there because the timing works out perfect. I get up, get ready, feed Lila, she is awake for a long time, stays awake during the first part of worship, greetings, and announcements, and when she gets fussy, the music starts back up and she goes to sleep and stays calm for the sermon. Pretty cool!

This is what the people behind me at church see!

Scott likes to show off Lila's neck skills by holding her up and propping her in funny pictures. Watch and enjoy!

Flying Baby Fun

The Baby is Getting Bigger! I cannot believe how much she changes everyday! There is always something new, a facial expression, a noise, something she likes, or doesn't like...

The video shows Lila getting an airplane ride and then enjoying her favorite toy, a piece of paper with black lines. During my reading, I learned that black and white lines are good stimulation for young babies and it works for Lila. She follows the lines right to left and up and down. With all the technology out there, who would have guessed?

Smiles

So Lila has been smiling... I finally got one on camera but it is blurry. But a smile is a smile and worth a thousand words. The weather has been so nice we have been taking walks and she loves the stroller, or maybe that is me because it allows me to get out of the house and make some vitamin D. She is getting bigger all the time and is over 10 pounds now. She has actually grown out of some of her clothes and is no longer in newborn diapers! Oh the things that get us excited. Granny Angie and Grandpa are back to visit and our kitchen smells so good. The house is full of laughter...
A smile!

She likes the football hold and it is good practice for holding up her head!

Lila is Two Months Old!

We went to the doctor today for the two month appointment. She weighed 9 pounds 13 ounces - 4 pounds more than when she was born! She has also grown 2 1/4 inches and is now 20 3/4 inches. Scott made it to the appointment and we asked all kinds of questions.

I asked about walking her in the stroller in cold weather and they said it is OK as long as she is dressed appropriately - so we went for our first walk. Lila in a bear suit and Daisy strapped to my waist. Lila was sleeping but she didn't protest and I'm excited to explore the outdoors with her now that I know it is safe:).

Lila has smiled and she can lift her head pretty well for short periods of time. She is becoming more alert and aware of her surroundings everyday. She made her first trip to Seattle the other day. 11 of my Mom's 12 siblings and my Grandma were in attendance so they all got to see the baby.

My parents have been staying with us and their company is the best thing I could ask for. They are loving Lila and helping me sleep and function. THANK YOU!

It's been a while!

Lila is doing well. She has gained 38 ounces in the last month, which is great. She often likes to be awake in the middle of the night and those of you who were lucky enough to have your babies fall right back to sleep during night time feedings, please don't tell me about it because sleep deprivation is killing me. I thank GOD for sending me my parents to help me. Better days are to come, there is light at the end of the tunnel. But for now, we deal with the hand we were dealt and pray about it. Hope all is well. Please pray for my cold and Lila's to go away!

More Answered Prayers

Merry Christmas! Again, Lila is still growing happily. The good news and answers to prayers is the PKU screening tests came back and Lila does NOT have a thyroid issue. Yay!

Lila's play time is very simple, looking at lights. She loves the tree and she likes to stare at the sun coming through the window. On thursday, Lila had her first date:). My friend Summer and her three month old son Carter came over. It was more for us, but the babies look so cute together. Lila looks tiny compared to Carter and it was fun to hold a bigger baby, what a work out:)! It was nice for me to get to talk to a mom who is just a few months ahead of me and able to answer questions for things I am just now experiencing. Thanks Summer!

Anyway, we will see some of you soon!

It is so nice to just take time to stare at my precious little one.
Lila and Carter! I don't think his mom will like all the pink, Carter is much too manly for this blanket!
